Umi-Ushi
It means "sea cow" in Japanese and it's English name is "sea slug" or "Nudibranch". We can see "horns" on their head so that's why they are called "Umi-Ushi". Their body color is colorful and very cute. I can watch them as long as I can stay in the water. The picture is the one I saw in Okinawa. He was enjoying his life in the beautiful sea. There is interesting description about this creature in Wikipedia.

Diving

I went diving today the owner of the diving shop was pretty nice. He is very gentle, friendly and kind to his customer. The good point of his character is that he has a goal. He wants a lot of people know wonderful world under the sea, and he spends a lot of time to recover corals in Okinawa. The damage of soft and hard corals due to global warming and "goblin" starfish is getting serious. So the organization that he belongs is growing and implanting chorals. I hope the project will go well.
Here is the web address for his website

Death penalty
Japanese high court sentenced a defendant to death penalty. In 1999, the defendant killed and raped a woman, then smashed her baby onto the ground a couple of times. He was only 18 years old so that a major point of this case was "He can be rehabilitated or not". Basically the law for infancy (younger than 18) is not strict because some judges believe defendants can be rehabilitated. However, I think it depends on the case. Although the defendant killed two people, he didn't show any regret. Besides, he sent a letter to his friend and it said "The laws protect me so I'll be back to the society soon and enjoy killing people again".
"Under the Juvenile Law, anyone under 18 years of age is exempt from being sentenced to death."
I think this law and the judges who support that are spoiling the country.

Skiing
I went to Lake Taho for skiing with my friend. I didn't care about lift ticket fee before, but now I felt it's very expensive. We got there about noon and we stayed just for 4 hrs. It could be the reason. But I still feel it's not worth paying. I paid $300 to get my car fixed yesterday so I should be tight for a while...

Stats
I've studied statistics for my project and tried to learn in English to expand my vocabulary, but it doesn't make sense at all. So I changed my mind to look Japanese websites (I thought it was easier for me), but I still can't understand it at all. Maybe the language isn't the matter...

Junk mails
I got 11 junk mails today. I was so frustrated before, but now I've already got used to them. Actually it's very interesting. 422 junk mails have been delivered to my account since last December, but the senders are all different. Spam filter of mailing service is getting powerful so that is the way to protect themselves.

Apple new computer
The CEO of apple computer Steve Jobs introduced new notebook computer, MacBook Air, the thinnest in the world. His idea is always innovative and looking at next decade. The amazing thing is Apple removed CD/DVD drive from the computer and Steve Jobs says "We don't think users will miss it." He (maybe not apple, only him) is touting the computer as a wireless device. Nobody, except Steve Jobs, come up with such a great idea.
